Nordex has received its largest contract farm in Ireland. The wind power project is called “Garracummer” is located in County Tipperary, and will have 17 wind turbines N90/2500.
“Garracummer” of 42.5 megawatts, is the largest Nordex wind farm in Ireland. The other two Nordex wind projects in Ireland are “Knockawarriga” with 22.5 megawatts and “Kilgarvan”, with 32.5 megawatts. Nordex built these wind farms with SWS, a wind power developer, which was acquired by Bord Gais in 2009.
The wind energy market in Ireland in 2011 has been a good year for Nordex. The manufacturer of wind turbines installed the first turbine in 2002. In 2010, the company founded an Irish subsidiary based in Swords, near Dublin. Today there are over 60 Nordex wind turbines operating in Ireland, with a capacity of 150 megawatts.
