Pierre Abadie Mayor Sathonay-Camp, SIGERLy President and Vice President of Greater Lyon, and Christophe Thévenon, CEO Southeast Cofely Services GDF Suez Group, recently inaugurated this project.

The wood boiler urban network of the municipality of Sathonay-Camp in Rhône-Alpes was inaugurated on November 30, 2012, after seven months of work by the SIGERLy and Cofely Services.

Sathonay-Camp joins the 350 French cities that already have this type of heating that combines comfort and energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The piping system roadworks supplies heating and hot water throughout the cluster gendarmerie and communal buildings (town hall, hall, school group …). Eventually, the boiler may also serve some residential social landlords (SNI OPAC du Rhône, Dynacité) and several condominiums.

In 2020, the network will supply heat throughout the ZAC Castellane, or 1,500 housing units and 5,000 people.

Cofely Services installed a wood boiler and energy with a total capacity of 3.5 MW. Local and renewable energy that will allow subscribers to ensure stable energy bills over time. The emission of 14,500 tonnes of CO2 will be saved over the life of the contract (5 years).

Asset to the local wood industry, the new plant uses wood energy recovery from by-products of the timber industry and helps sustain jobs in the regional sector. To ensure the quality and availability of fuel, Cofely Services has also opened a remote platform 35 km to Saint-Maurice-de-Gourdans to meet the needs of Lyon.

The construction of the boiler represented an investment of more than € 7 million for SIGERLy, funded by the Rhône-Alpes Region and ADEME.
