EDF Renewable Energy, U.S. subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, announced last week the commissioning of the wind farm Spinning Spur (Texas), a power of 161 MW.

Located in Oldham County, in the state of Texas, Spinning Spur wind farm consists of 70 turbines of 2.3 MW each, supplied by the manufacturer Siemens. Production is equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 50,000 households.

The wind farm will provide electricity to the U.S. operator Southwestern Public Service Company under a contract of sale of electricity for a period of 15 years.

Spinning Spur Wind is the thirtieth realization of the company in the United States, but the first in Texas, the U.S. state which has the largest installed capacity of wind power, with excellent wind conditions and a politico- economic environment.
